TAC Foundation Allocates Funds to Support Student Activities

Thursday, April 13, 2017

The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Foundation has allocated $6,000 to finance two recent applications to the Student Activities Fund

Le Club scientifique Pont d’acier Hercule de l’École de technologie supérieure, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers University of Alberta (ITEUA) Student Chapter will each receive $3,000 toward their participation in activities providing additional exposure to transportation beyond what the students experience in their program of study.

The Club scientifique Pont d’acier Hercule is planning to participate in a student competition involving 223 universities to design and build a steel bridge. This annual event helps students explore and learn about the real-life conditions of building a concrete or a steel bridge. Funds provided by the TAC Foundation will be used towards transportation and accommodation of participants as well as to purchase building materials and tools.

TAC Foundation funding will also be used to help ITEUA students attend the 4th International Transportation Information and Safety Conference, and host student presentations during the conference. This event will connect more than 20 ITEUA members, including undergraduate and graduate students, who have an interest in pursuing a transportation engineering career.

The next deadline for organizations or individuals to apply to the TAC Foundation’s Student Activities Fund, which supports field trips, enhanced educational experiences, infrastructure or equipment, is October 15, 2017. Visit www.tac-foundation.ca or contact foundation@tac-atc.ca for more details.
