Register for the 2017 TAC Conference in St. John’s

Join your colleagues and register for the 2017 Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Conference & Exhibition, September 24-27.

Early bird rates are available until June 28.

Technical Program

The keynote address of the Opening Plenary Session is expected to be delivered by Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, Amarjeet Sohi (invited) or Minister of Transport, Marc Garneau (invited). The conference theme, Investing in Transportation: Building Canada’s Economy, will be the topic, as will current and upcoming transportation challenges. 

A panel discussion on transportation financing, moderated by award-winning broadcast journalist, Don Newman, has invited experts from:

  • Canada Infrastructure Bank;
  • the Caisse de dépôt et de placement du Québec;
  • the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board;
  • the Institute of Transportation Engineers; and
  • PPP Canada.

More than 50 sessions, panels and workshops on hot topics including supporting connected and automated vehicles, drones, transportation pricing, road safety in work zones, and more, are being organized by TAC’s councils and committees.

Young Professionals and Students

Discounted registration fees are now available for young professionals (35 years and younger)! Students can register for free or a substantially reduced fee (depending on the access they want) for the whole event or Student Day, Tuesday, September 26. Students can also apply for the TAC Student Grant Program, which covers travel and accommodation costs for one or more students annually. Delegates wanting to support the Student Grant Program can register as a TAC Student Patron.

Companions wanting to witness St. John’s colourful landscape and surrounding historical and ecological attractions, including Cape Spear, Signal Hill, Bell Island Mine and more, may also register online. 

Technical Tours and Social Events

Six different technical tours are available as part of the program, and can be booked while registering for the conference, including:

  • Multi-lane and single-lane roundabouts
  • Kitty Gaul’s Brook and Lower Gullies River
  • St. John’s Metrobus Transit Facility
  • Sir Ambrose Shea Lift Bridge, Placentia
  • C-CORE Geotechnical Centrifuge
  • Centre for Marine Simulation

Unwind at various social events, including Monday Night’s “Rally in the Alley” on George Street, which boasts the most bars and pubs per square foot in North America! Take part in Newfoundland culture including Irish step dancing, being screeched-in and raising your voice as part of a sing-a-long.
