As of June 1, 2017, International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD), a highway traffic management technology company and supplier of products and systems to the global intelligent transportation systems industry, is now a subsidiary of Quaterhill Inc. As a Quarterhill team member, IRD will drive innovation in the Intelligent Transportation industry.     

The Ontario Asphalt Pavement Council (OAPC), formerly the Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association, has amalgamated with the Ontario Road Builders’ Association. The OAPC serves as the voice for hot mix asphalt producers on all subjects affecting the asphalt industry and members’ businesses.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has announced that it offers grants of up to $1 million  for capital projects to help Canadian municipalities adapt to the new realities of climate change impacts and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Grants are available through the Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program, delivered by FCM and funded by the Government of Canada.

Dr. Eric Hildebrand, Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB) and Coordinator of UNB’s Transportation Group, has received the Sir Sandford Fleming Award from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering for his work across the country improving transportation safety. As an adviser and investigator to Transport Canada on collision investigations, Dr. Hildebrand has worked closely with provincial governments and private contractors on highway design and safety. He is a recipient of the 2012 Award of Academic Merit of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC).

Ralph Haas, Distinguished Professor Emeritus and the Norman W McLeod Engineering Professor at the University of Waterloo, has received the International Award from the World Congress on Pavement and Asset Management for pioneering research and development of innovative technologies for managing road networks; contributing to the fields of pavement engineering, and sustained excellence in education. Ralph is an Honourary Life Member of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) and a recipient of TAC's 2014 Alumni Honouree Award.
